FAIRWAY INFORMATION (1)
Geographic, hydrological and administrative information about the waterway for EuRIS users to plan, conduct and monitor a voyage.
TACTICAL TRAFFIC INFORMATION (2)
Information that effects the skipper's direct navigation decisions: an electronic navigation chart (IENC) with the position and identification of all targets detected by a radar on board, as well as information about unexpected traffic disruptions in the vicinity.
STRATEGIC TRAFFIC INFORMATION (3) (6)
Information relevant for medium and long-term decisions of EuRIS users in planning a safe and smooth voyage, optimal use of vessels, waiting times and busy locks, (un)expected hindrance (3), operating times (6), and so on.
CALAMITY ABATEMENT (5) (7) (3) (4)
Activities during incidents and calamities: information about the location and type of an incident (5), contact with emergency services (7) and messages to vessels (3) in the vicinity (4).
INLAND ECDIS
Display of electronic navigation charts and additional information. Inland ECDIS contributes to the safety and efficiency of inland navigation and therefore also to the environment. Inland ECDIS combined with information from Inland AIS also offers added value within RIS.
ELECTRONIC REPORTING AND DATA EXCHANGE (15) (9) (10) (14) (16)
You can report your voyage (15) and cargo details electronically (9) in order to minimize administrative processing at the lock (10) and with other RIS authorities (14). The quality of your own reference data is also increased by means of a link with the European reference databases (16).
NOTICES TO SKIPPERS (NTS) (3)
Notices to Skippers from national and local (waterway) managers about the status of the inland shipping infrastructure (such as bridges and locks), temporary blockages (3) of the waterways, works, water level and icing.
INLAND AIS (8) (12) (10) (15)
Inland AIS (Automatic Identification System) (8) is an identification system that automatically transmits information about the name, position, speed and direction of an inland vessel. Shore-based AIS stations (12) allow better use of infrastructure, allow traffic posts to operate more efficiently (10) and allow shippers and terminal operators (15) to improve their logistics planning.
INFORMATION FOR TRANSPORT LOGISTICS (1) (11)
An overview of optimal routes (1) and arrival times (11) for shippers and planners.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS (13)
RIS authorities gain insight into missing vessel information, for example about dangerous goods or unpaid shipping duties. This makes it possible to inform the skippers in time to still comply. In addition, personal information is treated with maximum respect for privacy (13).
